Hand therapy credentials

A designation of OTR or OTR/L signifies that an occupational therapist is registered through either national certification (the “R”) or with the state (the “L”).

A certified hand therapist (CHT) is an occupational therapist or physical therapist with at least five years of experience plus 4,000 hours of hand therapy practice. The designation offers assurance to the public that the therapist has achieved a high level of competency in the profession and attends continuing education seminars to stay current within the field of hand therapy.
