Dr. Lindgren’s approach to patient care
Patient education is a fundamental part of the way Dr. Lindgren cares for patients. “My approach to patient care has always been a shared approach and one that prioritizes education. I do my best to provide adequate time for my patients to ask all the questions they might have, and I go over thorough explanation of what is going on with their joint, what options we have, and how we plan to fix it,” Dr. Lindgren said.
Dr. Lindgren emphasizes the link between patients having a good understanding of the surgery and recovery and their positive long-term outcomes. Although a hip or knee replacement is a big surgery, and patients may understandably be nervous, Dr. Lindgren explains, “The better the job I do explaining things on the front end, the more smoothly and predictably the surgery and recovery process tend to go.”
He enjoys giving patients a second chance at the active lives they had left behind because of severe arthritis pain. “My goal is improving quality of life, improving function, and decreasing or eliminating pain. Patients can see significant improvements, and that’s why it’s so rewarding for me,” Dr. Lindgren said.
Dr. Lindgren is happy to provide a second opinion for people who are considering joint replacement surgery. “I think second opinions should be more common when someone is considering a major surgery — it’s always a good idea, and I’m happy to talk with patients as they consider their options,” he said.
