The new Landmark Surgery Center offers a more convenient location and expanded treatments for hand and spine patients.
We have exciting news about the Summit Orthopedics Landmark Surgery Center. Since its 1995 founding in downtown Saint Paul, this center of excellence has treated patients with hand and upper extremity conditions. Our high standards for quality of care have been recognized by the prestigious Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval. However, over time, our continued growth and our commitment to patient convenience signaled that it was time for a change.
In September 2019, we made our hand specialists even more convenient and accessible by moving the Landmark Surgery Center from downtown Saint Paul to Woodbury. But accessibility is only one of the benefits of our new location. Dr. Robert Anderson, President of Summit Orthopedics, and Beckie Hines, Chief Operating Officer, explain how the new center raises the bar for patient care.
The history of Summit’s Landmark Surgery Center
“We have been caring for hand patients at our Landmark Surgery Center since 1995,” explains Hines. “While the center was located in downtown Saint Paul, it became the first licensed office-based ambulatory surgery center in the state of Minnesota. Then, in 2007, it was the first ambulatory surgery center in Minnesota to become Joint Commission accredited. As proud as we are of these accomplishments, we knew we could do even more.”
A central, accessible Woodbury location
The new Woodbury location just off I-494 at Tamarack gave Summit the opportunity to upgrade and expand the facility. As one of three tenants at the new Woodbury location, Summit occupies the entire second floor of the new building. In addition to providing hand surgery and specialty orthopedic care, the new Landmark clinic is a place where spine patients can come for nonsurgical spine injection services to treat back pain.
Treatment available at the relocated Landmark Surgery Center
“With three operating rooms, one combination operating room/procedure suite, and 18 pre-op/post-op patient bays in our new location, we can expedite treatment of our patients,” explains Dr. Anderson. “Our pride in our new center reflects our commitment to constantly improving the quality of care we provide to patients.”
All ten of Summit’s hand specialists perform hand surgeries at the Landmark Surgery Center. In addition, a number of Summit’s pain interventionalists, including Dr. Clary and Dr. Stulc regularly see patients at the center. They can also treat foot, ankle, and sports medicine cases.
Procedures currently available at the Landmark Surgery Center include the following:
- Hand, wrist, and elbow procedures
- Carpal tunnel release
- Biceps repair
- Foot and ankle surgeries
- Knee arthroscopy
- Foot, ankle, and leg fracture repairs
- Pain management procedures
- Regenerative BMAC injections
A facility designed to put patients at the center of care
“The layout of the new center also supports an efficient flow of services,” notes Hines. “Patients don’t have to walk long distances between each treatment destination. We carefully evaluated the patient and staff experience at our Vadnais Heights Surgery Center and our Eagan Surgery Center, then designed the Landmark Surgery Center to capitalize on best features while improving efficiencies even further. Every aspect of the Landmark treatment experience is designed to be convenient, efficient, and patient-friendly.”
The Landmark Surgery Center opened officially on September 23, 2019. “We are delighted to welcome our patients to our newest surgery center,” says Dr. Anderson. “Patients can expect the same warm, personal, and highly skilled treatment we’ve always delivered. But now it is at a much more convenient location in a new facility designed to place our patients at the center of the care team. Our focus is on you, and on setting you up for success and excellent outcomes after surgery.”
