My name is Dr. Angie Voight, and I do sports medicine. I think one of the main things that patients want is to feel like they’re listened to. They want somebody who hears what they have to say, takes them seriously, and tries to do everything they can to get them better. So, I think listening and really helping the person feel like they’re heard and understood is really important – and then I also think explaining the treatment plan and explaining what’s going on. Because I know a lot of times people go to the doctor and they come back and say. “Oh I have no idea what’s going on or really what the treatment plan is.” And I think for people to understand the treatment plan, then they get more involved and they’re more likely to have a successful recovery if they’re involved in the treatment plan. Being a nonoperative sports medicine doctor, I think my approach is more conservative. What can we do outside of surgery to get you better? And I try to include everything possible – physical therapy, other types of active release, injections. So I do everything except surgery to try to get people better and get them returning to their sport and activity. I love seeing everybody. Even people who are just trying to keep up their walking program or people who want to be able to participate in their soccer league. Anybody can come. Any types of injury. I really have an interest in seeing runners. I run myself, so I have seen a lot of running injuries. So, if you’re just training for your first 5K or are training for a marathon, come see me. That’s perfect. You don’t have to be a professional athlete, just anybody with an injury or trying to keep healthy for their sport.
