Mpls.St.Paul Magazine has honored three Summit Orthopedics physicians as “Rising Stars” in their April 2018 issue. The magazine’s annual “Top Doctors: Rising Stars” edition features up-and-coming physicians recognized for medical excellence in their subspecialty fields. This year, the magazine’s Rising Stars include 378 doctors in 40 specialties.
A rigorous Rising Stars selection process
The annual selection process is a rigorous one. To be nominated by their peers as a Rising Star, candidates must be fully licensed and have been practicing in their specialty area for 10 years or less. All nominees are then evaluated on a variety of factors, including peer recognition, professional achievement, and individual disciplinary history. Finally, candidates are reviewed by a blue-ribbon physician panel.
Dr. Catherine Y. Choi, Physical Medicine/Rehabilitation/Physiatry
Dr. Catherine Choi’s practice is focused on physical medicine and rehabilitation for spine care. “My specialty enables me to help patients recover and rehabilitate after a spine trauma or catastrophic event,” she explains. “Back pain can be complex. Sometimes you have to think outside the box, especially if a patient has already seen multiple other physicians. I really do love challenges, and I love to look for solutions. Even with the most challenging spine pain problems, I’m going to say, ‘I’ll bet there’s something we can offer.’”
Dr. Angela M. Voight, Sports Medicine
Dr. Angela Voight practices sports medicine, offering specialties that include ankle, foot, knee, and shoulder. As a runner herself, she understands the dedication of runners and the rigors of marathon races. When she’s not treating the athletes under her care, Dr. Voight supports our running community by providing medical coverage for local races and marathons. “I enjoy giving back by volunteering at race events,” she says. “I love to see runners out enjoying an event, and I’m there to make sure they are safe.”
Dr. Brent T. Warner, Orthopedic Surgery
Summit Orthopedics sports medicine physician and surgeon Dr. Brent Warner uses his fellowship surgical training in sports medicine injuries at the prestigious Steadman Philippon Research Institute to help his patients get back safely to their favorite activities. “As an athlete, I understand the profound impact that an injury can have on a patient’s life and well-being,” he says. “My goal is to return people to activity as quickly and safely as possible.” Dr. Warner treats disorders of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee, but has a special interest in shoulder injuries.
